Surf

This town is ideally situated to receive swells from all directions and makes for perfect surf. Jaco locals can proudly say they get some of the best surfing on the Central Pacific Coast. Directly outside our unit, there will be more surfing, and we recommend you have some surfing skills. Otherwise, head to the other end of the beach, and you will find more beginner-friendly surfing. You can also hire surf lessons on the beach hourly. Try out your surf legs and get a lesson!

Isle Tortuga

You must visit this natural spot if you’re looking for a place with sun, catamaran rides, and a great ambiance.
Beautiful Isla Tortuga is located off the southeastern coast of the Nicoya Peninsula and is only accessible by boat. Several companies can bring you here, so there is no excuse not to visit the paradise of white sand, turquoise waters, and beach chairs that await you. I want to inform you that only day tours are available, as hotel accommodations are not available on the island. This helps preserve the location's attractions, the perfect combination of flora, fauna, and sea.

We highly recommend CostaCat for this excursion, and our concierge can arrange it. Everyone gets chairs, umbrellas, lunch, snorkeling, a banana boat ride, and a hike.

El Miro Ruins

$FREE: These abandoned ruins of a mansion reside along a hillside overlooking Playa Jaco. It’s believed that the mansion may have belonged to a wealthy man who died before the building could be completed. It now serves as an observation deck for curious hikers and travelers. The incomplete building is three stories tall and has expansive balconies, white pillars, and a grand staircase. The panoramic view and graffiti are astounding and well worth the walk.

To get to the ruins:

Drive: Take the highway past Jaco towards Quepos. The entrance to the start of the trail is just past the Petrol station.

Taxi—about $5; walk across the street when you're done, and Puddle Fish Brewery can call a taxi.

Walk to the end of the beach, head up the last road, cross the highway, and the hike begins.

As you pass the first viewpoint, watch for several carved animals on the left side. These will guide you to the fork in the road. You can take the left path that leads upwards. You will see white balustrading off to the left about 98 feet (30 meters) along this path. Follow the balustrading to the top balcony of the mansion. Remember to wear proper walking shoes and carry plenty of water. Enjoy the view.

No concierge service is required and we work with front gate guards for a taxi.

Monkey Mangrove Tour

Welcome to our Monkey Mangrove Tour in Costa Rica! These mangroves only grow in Costa Rica and a handful of select areas worldwide, so this is a unique opportunity to explore a rare ecosystem. Sightings of monkeys are almost guaranteed, as we encounter these friendly creatures on over 90% of our tours in Jaco. The monkeys have become accustomed to seeing them over the years, so they may even jump on the boat, providing fantastic photo opportunities. Highly recommended with kids

Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio is the smallest national park in Costa Rica but one of the most popular. Visitors can see Capuchins, Howler monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, sloths, iguanas, agoutis, and hundreds of species of birds before hitting one of the park’s beautiful beaches.

In a recent attempt to curb visitor influence on the park’s ecological balance, the Costa Rican government has mandated a limit on daily visitors to the park at around 1200 people per day. Book an early morning guided tour of the park with a professional naturalist guide to avoid the crowds and increase your odds of seeing more wildlife. Naturalist guides have an eye and an ear for locating wildlife most people miss. Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Tuesdays. TICKETS MUST BE PREPURCHASED

https://manuelantoniopark.net/park-info/

Note: When driving to Manuel Antonio, you may encounter people in official-looking vests trying to flag you down as you enter the town. Do not stop for them, as it is likely a scam. They may try to convince you to park below and walk up to the park. Ignore their instructions and continue driving all the way to the park entrance. There, you can pay someone around $6.00 to watch your car. There is no need to park anywhere else.

El Avion Restaurant

If you visit Manuel Antonio we recommend stopping at El Avion Restaurant on the way home. El Avión, a world-famous restaurant and bar in Manuel Antonio, has a colorful and fascinating history. The C-123 Fairchild cargo plane has been converted into a pub, with a two-level bar and restaurant built in, around, and above the plane. El Avión is known for having the best views in Manuel Antonio!
